Tour of 5 days
DAY 1:
Marrakech:
- Arrival in Marrakech, pick-up at the airport. Depending on the time, a visit to the Red City.
- Transfer to the accommodation.
DAY 2:
Marrakech – Aït Ben Haddou – Kelaa M’gouna (Valley of Roses):
- Pick-up from the accommodation early in the morning. Departure towards Boumalne Dadès.
- During the journey, we will go through the Tizi n’Tichka, the highest road in North Africa, at an altitude of 2260 meters. There, we will visit an argan oil factory and they will explain to us the traditional extraction process.
- We will have some time to observe the wonders that nature offers us and take photos while enjoying a coffee or tea.
- Next, we will go to the famous Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified clay and wood structure where the traders of the Trans-Saharan Route stopped to rest.
- We will enjoy a visit through its alleys accompanied by a local guide.
- The next stop will be at the so-called Gateway to the Moroccan Desert, Uarzazat, where we will visit the Kasbah Taourirt and the largest film studio in the country.
- Finally, we will head to Kelaa M’gouna, also known as the Valley of Roses, to have the last meal of the day and stay overnight.
DAY 3:
Kelaa M’gouna – Tinghir – Desert:
- Before departing, breakfast at the accommodation. Visit to the Dades Gorges.
- Over time, the passage of the Dades river has created deep canyons leaving extraordinary views.
- We will visit one of these gorges and the river, sharing space with the local population and their way of life.
- We will continue the journey towards the Erg Chebbi desert, stopping in Tinghir to see the Todra Gorges and its large palm grove.
- We will end the day’s journey by going to the desert to admire the sunset, ride camels, quads, 4x4s, or walk. Tonight’s accommodation will be in a typical Khaima of one of the local camps to enjoy the calm, traditional Amazigh music, and the marvelous starry sky.
DAY 4:
Merzouga – Er-Rissani – Azrou – Fes:
- We will wake up early to see the sunrise. Afterwards, we will have breakfast and head towards Fes.
- Our first stop will be in Er-Rissani, where we will visit its famous market.
- We will continue on the road and find the palm grove of the Ziz Valley, where we will stop at a viewpoint to take photos.
- On the way, we will pass through the cedar forest of the Azrou National Park, a protected natural area where a large colony of monkeys (Macaca Sylvanus) live.
- Finally, we will arrive in the imperial city of Fes, known as the spiritual capital of the country.
- We will check into the accommodation where we will spend the night.
DAY 5:
Fes City Visit:
- We will have breakfast at the accommodation and get ready to visit the city with a local guide.
- We will start the tour from Bab Bou Jeloud or the Blue Gate, which leads us to the Fes-el Bali Medina surrounded by walls extending over 15 km.
- Inside this Medina, we will stroll through the labyrinthine alleys and visit the Bou Inania Madrassa or Grand Mosque.
- We will also see the tannery quarter where sheep and goat hides have been traditionally worked since the 14th century, and the colours of dyes come from natural pigments such as henna, mint, or saffron.
Finally, we will head to the airport to end the trip.
