Marrakech
Located in the southwest of Morocco, at an altitude of 466 meters and at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, we find the city of Marrakech.
Its original name in Amazigh is Tamurt n Akkuc, “Land of God”. The city was initially a military camp created in 1060 by Abu-Bakr. But it was Sultan Youssef Ben Tachfini who, by ordering the construction of walls, wells, and buildings, turned it into a real city.
Currently, it is one of the largest cities in Morocco, with more than one and a half million inhabitants, and is one of the four Imperial Cities of the country.
